Cecelia J. Rochester
November 16, 1919 - April 16, 2022


Cecelia Julia Rochester passed away at the age of 102. She earned her wings on April 16, 2022 at her home in Toughkenamon, PA. She was born in Georgetown, Maryland to the late Maude Selena Brisco and Samuel Wright. She was the wife of the late Ellsworth W. Rochester. Cecelia was a long-time, faithful member of Mt Tabor AME Church. At a young age, she attended Sunday School, was an Usher, and was later named the Mother of the Church. She was always dressed in her finest, wearing one of her beautiful hats and with her nails impeccably done.

Cecelia worked at various domestic and food service jobs, including Kennett Kandy Kitchen, Rex Mushrooms, Dececco Cannery, and Penguin Industry. She loved cooking, making cakes, cookies, fudge, and mac’n’cheese. In fact, cooking for the family during the holidays was her favorite.

She enjoyed having all of her family, at her home…she loved her family. She also liked to read and do puzzles. She loved to travel, especially to the Poconos, Atlantic City and Delaware Park.

Cecelia leaves to cherish three girls: Janet Jackson and Maude Chambers Rochester, both of Kennett Square, PA; and Deborah Calcano (Angelo) of Wilmington, DE. Nine Boys: Randolph Rochester (Ruth) of Cochranville, PA, John Rochester, Philadelphia PA, Richard Rochester (Sharlene) of Garlene TX, Charles Rochester of Jennersville, PA; Albert Rochester of Kennett Square, PA; Wendel Rochester (Wanda) of Avondale, PA,; Robert Rochester of Kennett Square, PA, Kevin Rochester of Los Angeles CA, and Russell Rochester of West Chester, PA. Forty grandchildren, Twenty-five great-grandchildren, Ten great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth W. Rochester, two sons: Max Rochester, Victor Rochester, three daughters, Marie Rochester, Frances Rochester, Patsy Rochester, and two brothers, Sterling R Saunders and Charles E Murray
